Have you ever tried something really weird in order to get traffic? Me, I haven't, but I'm actually looking for ideas. I want more traffic!

How weird are you talking? You mean like stealing from other sites? Or just a come-on to use to make more people come into your site.Have you ever thought to use sites like FreeToUse.com in order to put in an add about what you have to sell? It costs nothing to put in ads on that site and you can list anything you want to sell. In most cities there are free advertising (something like a WANTED ITEMS, ITEMS FOR SALE, FREE ITEMS TO PEOPLE WHO WANT THEM. If you put something in Items for Sale and make it really cheap like a loss-leader then that might just bring more hits on your site.

Well this trick worked on me. Has anyone ever watched that show pants off dance off. They say on the tv show, that you can check out their website to see the nude dancing and that isn't true. I still love the show, but they tricked me into getting on the website. If anyone has gone there and actually has seen the dancers nude let me know because I feel like I have been tricked. I went to the site because I didn't figure they would actually show all of those dancers nude, and my suspisions were right. LOL :)

Well, I guess you could do some advertising that is off the wall to grab peoples attention but how did you feel when you found out it was a rip off... did you want to go back to that site again?I don't think so... off the wall advertising is good if you make a play on words and then people can laugh and say ohhhhhhhhh that's how it was meant and at least be comfortable on your site. But to feel ripped off... not a good thing.

No I haven't. I have tried doing a play on words or an interesting ad. I don't really go for anything that is really misleading.

I haven't done anything really drastic or weird. I have offered contests, free bonus gift with purchases, and posting my banners in sig lines of forums that allow it.

In the past, pole sitters would sit at the top of an empty telephone pole with a sign (Eat at Joe's) to promote a business.Unusual cars such as the Moxie mobile or the Oscar Myer Weiner mobile. Chalking your website on sidewalks at busy intersections (may be illegal). • Page 1 (Original Post) •
