What are the best ways to promote a website besides using the internet. Do magazines and newspapers create very much traffic? What about billboards or the tv?

Great question. A lot of us get so caught up in Internet marketing that we forget just how important the other media is as well. I still think that most priorities should be on the web because even the large media corporations are headed to the Internet in a big way, but I think magazines are a good way to advertise if your budget permits.

Yes definitely magazines are good or sometimes the little community newspapers. However, the advertising in magazines usual comes at a prohibitive cost which is why people concentrate more on the website.Getting your website attached to a Google search is probably more economical and effective than anything else. When someone googles women's clothing get you site in that list, or toys, or vacation spots or whatever you are trying to sell.

Word of mouth is a great thing and it is free. Just talk to friends and family and ask them to help spread the word. This should help. Depending on the type of business, you can use college bulletin boards on campus and apartment bulletins as well. All that will cost you is some paper and ink!

There are all kinds of bulletin boards you can utilize and even if you only get one or two from each the word will starts spreading.Bulletin boards are found in shopping malls, in grocery stores, in drugstores, in apartment buildings, in community centres, all over the communities. Just get yourself a nice flyer with the link to your site on tear offs at the bottom and take a walk around different places and get them put up.

I don't think there is a better way to advertise a website than on the internet. If it's right there in front them, they might just click the link. But if they read it in print somewhere, odds are they aren't right there next to a computer, so they may forget all about it by the time they are somewhere with computer access. I don't think printed text is a good form of advertisement.

i agree to angel. although print ads or tv can help there is no better way than advertising on the net. the best way to promote website was to promote it to search engine. have some backlinks from related website or blog it(make sure there is no rel="nofollow" links). as long as your writing is informative and original i dont think it was a spam. Below is my link and i dont assume someone click it but i am promoting it to search engines. i also dnt think it was a spam since i am giving informative information and it was just my payout. most people use search engine so we have no choice but to compete to have some rank on them.

anyway google pagerank is "assumed"(since most search algorithm was kept secret and they always updating it) calculated as the sum of value of inbound links(pointing to your page) divided by the number of links on that page. just a little insight about pagerank to make everyone aware that having inbounds links from 0 pagerank will not really affect the page. 0 /0 = 0. if that inbounds links was in google list it may affect. also remember that your site cant have a pagerank overnight. you can also try google adwords to advertise your site but ive been there before and it does not work for me. it only works to big business. if youre offering a service or selling a product for small amount forget about adwords. if you have a real deep pocket unlike me i advise you to have a paid directory inclusion in yahoo..

I disgree... write with the assumption that and goal to have a human user click your link. That is write, useful and informative posts (like Dell has) and people will be bound to click the link.Don't crap that no on wants to read or click. The bonus is the search engines will follow the links too. Anyone that uses nofollow is just trying to game the search engines for their own benefit and should be stung up by they short hairs or at least boycotted.
