I have tried enom web hosting for a while now. i find it is less than dependable and has often downtimes and outages. The installs of the third party open source apps are weak and not very glitch free either.

Never heard of it, if it's that bad, you really should switch. Always go with the big companies, because they are reputable.

Hang on, are you talking about the same enom that does domain name registrations? They are a very large company and I would have expected more from them. I guess if you're good at one thing (domain registrations) you're not necessarily good at something else (hosting). I think they recently merged with BulkRegister which could be a good thing.

Well I'm in agreement with JKander..I have not heard of them before but definitely if you are not happy with them then you need to go and try someone else. Have you tried GoDaddy or TwoCows.I have heard of people using GoDaddy and are quite happy with them but as with anyone else I have also heard sad stories from them too. There are Private WebHosting sites and I truly believe that the Private ones will give you a more personal touch when dealing with your site.

I am going to have to go with the group here. I haven't heard of them either. Smaller companies make me nervous for the very same reasons. I would rather just go with a trusted company with a known name.

Most important is your DNS. Is the TTL (time to live) set to a reasonable value. If it is set to say 1 week, then if you have to change hosts it will take up to 1 week for the DNS to change over to the new host! Can you afford a week of down time for the change? If you DNS is suitable flexible it should be no big deal to upload your files to a new host and change the DNS. Not fun, of course. You can check your DNS here: (remember to enter just domain.com and not www.domain.com). • Page 1 (Original Post) •
