I don't like text ads; I'm an artistic guy, and banners are a way for me to show of my creativity. I'm not an idiot, I know text links are better for SEO, but traffic leads to linking which leads to SEO.

I actually like some banners depending on how flashy they are. Text ads work well for me but I do have some banners on different sites just to compare.

Comment #2 Shannon from The Office (Contact Member) -

I like banners too but sometimes they're a bit much. If I'm on a blog site that is inundated wtih flashy banners and such, I pretty much will not stay there. It's too bothersome.

Comment #3 delino from California (Contact Member) -

I just read a good book on Google adsense and he states in very strong words how people stay away from banners. I'm not sure I agree with that, but I think text ads are in a lot more than banners especially if they are well-placed and fit in contextually.

Comment #4 schorl from Tourmaline (Contact Member) -

The term banner connotes a large ad across the top of the page, but in fact there are some quite subtle smaller ads that fit under this heading and which could be a lot less off-putting than the big garish ones. I think that it is the content and placing of the ads that is most important, and the same goes for the placing of the adsense links.
