Hi everyone, I have been using delicious.com for all my tagging needs and enjoy using it. I now have the Firefox plugin installed and everything is running smoothly. Does anybody know of any alternatives to delicious and reasons for switching services? Also, if you are going to recommend something, is there a way to export my delicious tags into the new service. Thanks.

Some of the others will import the del.icio.us bookmarks. What is your goal? Organization of bookmarks for your own use, or promotion of your websites?

Thanks for helping me out Billy. I am actually looking to organize my bookmarks and that's why I like delicious. It helps me keep everything nicely organized and tagged and I can access my tags from any machine. It's got all the basics like a tag cloud and the browser plugin, but I was wondering if there was something better/cooler now.The point you raise about promotion of my site is very interesting. How would one go about promoting their site with a tool like delicious? You can tag your site, but does that really help? Do people actually get on to delicious and browse the tags?

If you were looking to promote your site... check out the nofollow tags on del.icio.us. Bookmarking there doesn't look like it till do much with the search engines for you. Some people say they get hundreds or thousands of new visitors from people browsing tags on del.icio.us. Especially when a site gets tagged enough to make it on their popular list. I've never seen that flood of people but occasionally see del.icio.us as a referrer in my log files.

Very interesting. I never knew delicious was useful for that. Billy, do you think that delicious could actually turn into more of a search engine in the long term or at least maybe more people will start using engines that search across a variety of tagging services? That would obviously make it even more valuable to have one's site in there.

Is that what delicious does? Organizes bookmarks? That wouldn't be a problem for me since I hardly have any bookmarks.

I like delicious a lot. I've started bookmarking a lot more stuff now that I know it's organized and accessible from anywhere. The tag cloud feature is also wonderful. It's like my brain mapped out :)Give it a try and you'll see why so many people are using it.

I've never even heard of this program. I'm going to have to give it a shot since so many of you have good things to say about it. I'd love something that would help me organize my bookmarks.

Can you tell us a bit more about your site and why it is "better"?

Check out Technorati.com. They are also a bookmarking site. You can download a Technorati tag generator and it makes tagging your posts quite simple.

I like Technorati too - I wish more people would use that instead of url trends. I don't think that url trends is very accurate.
