I have seen many websites state that they have a rss feed but can someone tell me what it is for? It is supposed to bring more traffic to their site?

I haven't had much experience with it. I don't see much difference but I have seen quite a few sites with it as well. I guess it couldn't hurt.

It's a great thing and can certainly help. RSS readers are becoming more and more popular and sites are looking to syndicate other sites' content a lot more these days. So you basically make it easier for people to get to your latest content and in turn your site becomes more popular.

Just revisiting this thread in light of how popular RSS feeds/readers are now. There is no question as to the value of an RSS feed if your site can support it.
