Pay per Click Revenue - Pay per Click - Revenue

Estimated revenue

Amar from Earth -

I find that new owners of domain names have vastly overestimated their expectations with respect to ad revenue.

Who has time to aound clicking ads?

I make a disctinction between ads and affiliates.

You have to include factors like quantity and quality of traffic as well as subject matter and how well the ads (ppc or affiliate) match the site and its viewers interests.

I don't think people that do pay per click actually pay much attention to what they are "supposed to be" reading. Most of the mail is just a scam and you wouldn't want anything to do with it. A lot I have heard are get rich quick scams. You can make 5000.00 per week standing on your head. You can make 5000.00 per week sitting in you pajamas. Yeah right.

Maybe I've missed something in this thread but PPC is a huge industry and does very well for sites. For example, as I'm viewing this thread I happened to notice that at the top of the page there are some sponsored ads related to PPC and affiliate advertising. Well that's the genius of Google (and other contextual ads). Their algorithm has picked up the text of our conversation and used it to populate ads. So instead of reading an ad about how my boyfriend can be a superman in bed (excuse the example), I might genuinely be interested in clicking on one of those links to see what the site is about. The trick with contextual advertising is often placement on the site itself. Perhaps there should be some ads right next to the text of these messages. Not sure about that. The point, however, is that it absolutely does work and if the content of the site is good many people will click the links even if they don't like the site they're on and want to head off somewhere else.

Yes, but I think that would piss off people who got confused between the ads and the messages. I like the presentation here, they blend in with the page (style and color), but you aren't tricked into clicking on them instead of something in the forum.

And, yes, it does look like Google is doing an excellent job are showing relevant ads.

The fact that you noticed the ads and notice that they are right on topic is probably a good sign for the revenue on this site, even though they aren't smushed into the messages. That should also be a good sign for the people on the otherside (the advertisers) as they should get quality traffic as well.

Not sure if anyone will tell us whether we are right or wrong.
