I am looking for some mailing lists. I want a clickable demo that will look at what I have built and I want to use an email campaign to alert new people. I will use a fresh email address and a domain naem that is the real name so it won't get spammed out. What kind of budget am I looking at?

Wow that is a great question. I figure that it wouldn't cost too much. How do you get the email information. Is that illegal to get other peoples information like that? Don't you have to have them sign up with you first. Isn't that like selling your identity/email?

I think it is illegal to spam and use aliases for domain names you do not own. But all the emails I get that are spam are usually featuring email campaigns! I want a little more quality for my money. Lead generation takes time and money but I would like to see more results and bring more visitors to my new content.

Definitely it is illegal to use domain names that are not yours and treating/alluding to or simply implying it is yours. As far as e-mail lists go the only way to get e-mail lists that I'm aware of anyway is to put a cookie on a site that you know gets a lot of hits which will direct the e-mail address to you. I even think that is illegal but I know that pokersites use them when they hook up with a person or a forum. That even if the person just visits a poker forum the cookie is implanted so that if they try to download the poker site from another forum the original forum gets the credit.

Cookies can be a nightmare. Sometimes I can feel my security software wrestling with something and I always know that site has some rogue code amok.

That's funny that you should mention that Sweetness I have a g/f who started up a poker forum and she was arranging games in the poker sites and had their banners set on her site and she would receive credits for everyone who joined through her forum.Well the interesting thing was that her husband set up an account on a different computer and she never got credit for him even though she KNEW FOR SURE that he had downloaded it from her forum. So she contacted the site rep and he told her exactly that. The he must have visited a site that encrypted the poker site in his cookies and that there was nothing they could do about it. So she started checking all the other players she knew had d/l from her banners and many were not credited to her for the same reason. She was furious.

I suggest you send snail mail, because even if somebody doesn't buy it, they usually go online and see if the business is legit.

I am not sure about email listing but I know you can by the regular snail mail lists. I can't remember if it was $100 or less.

BigList is not cheap at about $40 a month, but I've heard of these guys if you're looking for a hosted mailing list solution. It may be worth doing it manually at first unless your userbase is really large. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
