HTML - HTML tableless tables |

I recently read somewhere about designing sites around tableless tables. Basically this means using CSS to design the placement of the components of the page without the use of a conventional HTML table. While this sounds amazing, is it in fact feasible considering compatibility problems across different browsers?

I once followed a link from an article on exactly this topic to a site that had tutorials on constructing tableless tables using CSS. The funny thing was that a disclaimer was published on the site saying that due to compatibility issues the site itself was not contstructed using tableless tables LOL. Paradoxical but true!

There are plenty articles out there today on the subject that give some quite detailed information. This, in my opinion, is the best way to learn. Use the article to try out the suggestions and see whether it works for you. Don't rush out to buy books though, because these are often out of date by the time they hit the shelves of the bookstores.
