Come on now. Who really knws how to hand code?Shout out.
Comment #1 Nancy from Los Angeles -
It's the only way to code pages. Actually, the best way is to use perl to generate the code for you.

But you still have to go tweak it.

Doesn't everyone know how to hand code? It's not that difficult. I think it's the best way to code pages.

Even if I use a tool like Dreamweaver to do the job, I'm still always getting in there and editing the code by hand as much as possible. It's the best way to learn any language and makes sure you know what's really going on under the hood.

You should know how to do it and at least attempt it once in awhile just for practice so you don't forget. I'm not saying you should always hand code as opposed to using a tool, but you will need it at least for editing purposes so you should keep yourself familiar with it.

I don't know what's going on, I have a dude do it all for me. But when I add content, I come in contact a bit with the code, but not so much that I have to know a lot.

Problem with relying on a WYSIWIG application like Dreamweaver to do it for you is that you can never fine tune the CSS. Many times you just have to go in and change code to achieve what you want even on the most basic level.

The beauty of an application like Dreamweaver is that it automates so many tasks for you and achieves results with a single click in many cases. It is still easier to do a lot of the basic work like this and then get into the editing window and fine tune it.

Me:)i'm a web developer from 2002;) and i enjoy coding in notepad, vi or pico, exactly as much i can code using a professional tool:) Coders have all in their mind, just planting on "paper", not using tools that do the job. That way you have the full control on what you're doing. No hidden backdoors, nothing. And that also benefit you, if updates needed. You know the code, know exactly where to go, set, fix and launch:)
