Anyone know of a good utility that will allow editable screen capture of portion of the screen? I use printscreen and copy it to paint, but I imagine there are more elegant ways of doing it directly from a graphics program. I don't want to shell out a fortune though as I don't use graphics software all that often.

yes, definitely. Look for a program called printkey. I don't know if it's still available, but it will do exactly what you're looking for. Great for doing screen caps of regions or the entire window.

I use PSP7. Has a little camera icon that when clicked takes you to whatever is displaying on the desktop. You can then click and drag the area you want to capture, click, and you have it right in PSP ready to edit. Works brilliantly.

Yes, printkey is a fantastic little application, and I'm pleased to say, still widely available. And it's free. Do a google search and it will turn up many download sites.

Of course you can still just use the printscreen key to get the desktop into memory and then import that into your graphics program. It's still something I use when I need a quick screen shot and it's completely free!

I suggest to use a simple and FREE program, called ScreenHunter.I'm using it on a daily basic, and i'm extremly satisfied with it. I use the free version, not needing all features from it, but's your decision:) Enjoy • Page 1 (Original Post) •
