What is the best way that you know of to prevent Taggers on your site.I have had some ideas given to me and have tried them but somehow they always seem to sneak in to tag. Unless I patrol the site 24 hrs a day this becomes very unmanageble and it takes away from the nature of the site and annoys people who use the site. I was posting on one site and have since left the site because of the taggers there. I am still receiving pm's from them.

Can you explain the term "taggers" a little better?

Yeah I have no idea what a tagger is; it is someone who clicks your ads uncontrollably or something? Something to do with MySpace? Sounds like a MySpace thing.

What I understand taggers to be is the people that join a forum and then send out private messages to all the members with their threads linked in and/or post in the forums with a whole list of threads to anything from selling sites to porn sites.I could be wrong but that's what I heard the definition was.

Just the run of the mill spammers. Probably using an automated script. Easy for a forum script to block.

I've seen posts like that on some forums. Usually the admin or mods just delete it and IP ban the user. I've never known of it to be ax extremely bad problem. It's usually just a post or two.

Well, I joined a forum and had a problem with someone pm'ing me constantly with lists and lists of threads and a lot of them were porn related. I contacted the webmaster and as fast as he could delete them there were more coming in. This jerk whoever it was just kept changing their user name and posting this crap and pm'ing the same crap over and over. It really was a nuisance and a waste of my time to have this stuff hit my e-mail constantly. I hope I have finally seen the end of it because it has been about a week now with nothing. But I just don't understand why they do this. What do they think they are going to make by doing this?

I find it hard to believe that they actually think someone is going to buy into what they are selling. I guess they think if they bug you to death you might somehow lose your mind and give it a try.

The best way to prevent it was through captcha. i believe its not really human doing it but a bot.
