Proof Reading

When you are setting up your sites and either writing descriptions or writing articles to be sent out do you use the talents of a proof reader.

I know myself, and many others, who are turned off by poor grammer and poor spelling when reading articles or information about products.

When I or they see this type of carelessness I/they often wonder about the value of what is being advertised or who is doing the advertising because if they cannot take the time to proof read, it shows carelessness and sloppiness which causes me to assume it may overflow into the value of what it is that the Website is trying to sell to me.

I know exactly what you mean. I won't buy anything from a site that has words spelled incorrectly or doesn't use proper grammar. It makes the site look cheap and thrown together. It doesn't look professional at all. When I feel that way about sites, I just can't trust them.

I wish more people would. What makes it worse is when people use really old formats and really old styles and then try to jazz up the site with language. Misspellings and incorrect grammar make the site look like it was made in India or Kazakhstan, or worse, a generator. You just want to leave.

I wish people would proofread more. It just goes so far toward keeping an eyeball. Mispelling on a web site especially when they are selling something just say "we don't care what you think of our site but we expect you to give us your money".

These days the habit of proofing is practially a security tactic. I spot fake Paypals all the time just by seeing that the month is June when the email was sent in october.

I rarely read what I write, or have a proofreader read what I write. I seem to have a fear of finding mistakes, but luckily I don't make many. Well, I can only assume so, since I never reread what I write.

Comment #5 Dixie from Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Contact Member) -

I always read what I write. I don't like for people to see my mistakes so I always try to correct them as I go. Once in awhile something escapes my attention, but not very often.

I usually try to proofread everything prior to it going on my blog or website. I don't even bother to visit a site again when the front page is full of errors.

I am not the best speller in the world but most of the time I will catch it. I don't visit sites like that either and won't hire a content writer if they can't spell or make sloppy mistakes.
