I'm thinking of downloading the newest Firefox browser. Is it any good? I've not really heard any opinions on it yet, is everybody waiting for somebody else to try it first? I like to hear opinions before I download anything so I'm hoping someone here has used it already.

I've been using Firefox 1.5 and am happy. Dunno if that is the "newest" or not.

The newest is Firefox 2. Who cares about the x.xs? It's all about the xs, that's what really counts. I'm going to download it when I'm at my fast computer.

Well at least I'm not the only one that didn't jump onboard the very first day it was released. I've been using firefox for quite awhile now and it seems to run a lot better than IE, so I'll probably end up downloading the newest version soon.

From a lot of people that have firefox I have heard aweful things. I was really surprised to see your praises of firefox. I have IE and never have problems. I have heard you can have both on your computer, how does that work?

For awhile I had 4 different browsers on my computer. I had IE, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera. You just open up whichever browser you want to use. I've long since gotten down to just IE and Firefox. I almost never used the other two anyway, they always made webpages look strange. IE is probably the most popular browser.

I have heard that there are some issues at the moment. It may be worth holding off for a little while until some patches are released. What an amazing browser overall though. I'm posting to this forum right now from Firefox and wouldn't dream of using any other browser these days (aside for testing purposes).

I hear IE7 is actually giving some good competition. I've used it, and it's alright, but Firefox has that comfy feel. I can't explain it, it just feels like IE is too corporate.

Thanks for the clarification kcmo. I just never had the need to use more than one browser. Four at a time, that is more than I could handle. LOL

I have no complaints with firefox. I sometimes us IE but firefox works better for me. I just upgraded to the 2.0 so I haven't seen any problems as of yet.

I have IE7 and Firefox...I don't know, I kinda toggle between the two but if I had to choose one - Firefox for sure. There are a lot of plug ins that are available with Firefox that make blogging a heck of a lot easier for me!!

Comment #11 delino from California (Contact Member) -

I'm typing this from Firefox 2 and have been using it for a while now. It's very good. Great extensions/plugins and it's more secure than IE. The only issue is that it takes up a lot of system resources and I've had some crashes from time to time. Great choice though. Definitely worth going for.
