Do names really provide value?

The number of crazily named sites these days makes one wonder whether there is really any intrinsic value in the site's name per se. It seems that traffic is what provides the value at the end of the day and this is rarely generated by someone typing in a name by chance. Most clicks today probably come from searches which are content, and not name, based.

Yeah I don't think the names are very important. It's a cool thing but not a must. Some of the crazy names are actually catchy and stick in your head.
