Even if a directory has a high PR, I don't think it's a good idea to reciprocal link. First of all, it puts some really unrelated links on your site, and I don't think you get much link power from it. That's why it's necessary to submit to hundreds of directories, because one hardly helps. Reciprocal just doesn't do it for me.

If it's a free directory, then why not? Anything that gets people to your site is a good thing.

Well reciprocal directories take up link space, so I understand why you wouldn't want to use them.

Well from what I see reciprocal directories do take up space but as was said it does get people to the site if you have the right directory there then they will recommend it to others they know as a place to find all that they want.

And when you get them to your site, if you are selling quality goods at reasonable prices you will get the sales as well.
