Free Targeted Website Traffic

Submitting to paid directories just doesn't seem worth it to me, I'd rather save my money for really valuable links. Agreed?

None of the paid directories seem to sell you on the value of their link. "featured" don't do it. There has to be a reason to pay.

Blog is free to me. It is opinion and should be free. I don't know why anyone would pay for anything that has to do with blogging or someone blogging on your site. That is just ridiculous. Just another way for people to get money. It never ends.

I haven't done it personally but I think the one case where it can have benefit is when a site has a high page rank. Once a site has established a good amount of backlinks and it's Google pagerank is high then having them linking to you is going to help your page rank and search engine listing. I'm not sure it justifies the returns though, but I think that's a valid argument in favor of them.
