What exactly is CSS? All I know is that it stands for Cascading Style Sheets, but that doesn't give enough description for me.

Ahhh Kemo sabe you open Pandora's box.CSS Cascading Style sheet are the enemy! CSS was intended as a way for joint project designers to identify key ways to program text and page design styles so that everyone writing or designing fo the site could reference the same directions. But the problem is that nobody likes sameness anymore. The CMS programs that favor this make cookie cutter sites and not everyone wants that.

In it's simplest form you can use it to define the fonts, sizes and types for your page. You change the CSS in one place and your entire page reflects the changes. From there you can pretty much move on to do anything you want.

CSS is also extremely useful for layout. There is a school of thought that one should move away from tables and use CSS for layout instead. It's such an important topic that I am going to start a new thread about it.I am a big believer in CSS though and have seen it save a lot of time in dev and maintenance. I think to ignore it is a foolish move. The biggest question is to what extent you like to use it. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
